World War II Reenactment Club Rules & Guidelines

1. Purpose of the Club

The purpose of this club is to promote historical education, preservation, and public display of Military history through safe, respectful, and authentic reenactment activities.

All members are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the club, fellow members, veterans, and the wider reenactment community.


2. Member Conduct & Respect

2.1 Respect Toward Members

  • All members are to treat each other with courtesy, respect, and professionalism.
  • Bullying, harassment, intimidation, discrimination, or abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Personal disputes are not to disrupt events, meetings, or club activities.
  • Senior members, event organizers, and safety officers are to be treated respectfully, particularly when giving directions related to safety or event management.

2.2 Respect Toward the Public

  • Members represent the club at all public events and must behave appropriately at all times.
  • Members are expected to be polite, approachable, and respectful when interacting with spectators, venue staff, organisers, and the general public.
  • Offensive language, aggressive behaviour, or intoxication in public view is unacceptable.
  • Members should remember that reenactment portrays history and is not an endorsement of wartime ideologies.

3. Political Neutrality

3.1 No Political Organizations or Extremism

  • The club is strictly historical and educational in nature.
  • No political groups, extremist organizations, or modern ideological movements are permitted within the club.
  • The display or promotion of modern political belief is prohibited.

3.2 Unit Representation

  • Impressions and units portrayed must be based on historical authenticity and educational value only.
  • The club does not permit units or portrayals created primarily for political, extremist, or shock-value purposes.
  • Members must not use reenactment activities to promote political agendas or personal ideologies.

4. Firearm Safety & Security

4.1 General Firearm Safety

  • All firearms must be handled safely and responsibly at all times.
  • Members must comply with all applicable laws and licensing requirements.
  • Firearms are never to be pointed at any person except during controlled and authorised battle scenarios using approved blank-firing procedures.
  • Horseplay with firearms is strictly prohibited.

4.2 Blank Firing & Demonstrations

  • Only approved blank ammunition may be used at club events.
  • Live ammunition is strictly prohibited at any reenactment event, training activity, or club gathering.
  • Firearms may only be discharged in designated areas and under event organiser approval.
  • A safety briefing must be conducted before any battle display or live firing demonstration.

4.3 Storage & Transport

  • Firearms must be securely stored and transported in accordance with local law.
  • Members are responsible for ensuring their firearms remain secure when not in use.
  • Unauthorized persons, particularly minors or members of the public, must never have unsupervised access to firearms.

4.4 Safety Authority

  • Event safety officers or organizers have the authority to inspect firearms and prohibit unsafe equipment or behavior.
  • Failure to follow firearm safety instructions may result in immediate removal from an event or suspension from the club.

5. Respect for Property, Equipment & Vehicles

5.1 Care of Equipment

  • Members are expected to treat all club and privately owned equipment with care and respect.
  • Borrowed items must be returned in the same condition in which they were received.
  • No member may use another person’s equipment, uniform items, weapons, or vehicle without permission.

5.2 Military Vehicles

  • Historic military vehicles are valuable and often privately funded restorations.
  • Members and the public must follow all instructions from vehicle owners and operators.
  • Climbing on, entering, or handling vehicles without permission is prohibited.

5.3 Damage & Liability

  • Members may be held responsible for damage caused through negligence or reckless behavior.
  • Any damage, faults, or safety concerns should be reported immediately to the owner or event organizers.

6. Alcohol & Drug Policy

6.1 Alcohol Use

  • Alcohol consumption must be sensible, moderate, and responsible.
  • No member may handle firearms, operate vehicles, or participate in battle scenarios while under the influence of alcohol.
  • Event organizers may prohibit alcohol entirely at certain events or venues.

6.2 Drugs

  • Illegal drugs are strictly prohibited at all club activities and events.
  • Any member found possessing, using, or distributing illegal substances may face immediate removal and possible permanent expulsion from the club.

6.3 Prescription Medication

  • Members using prescription medication that may impair judgement or physical ability should act responsibly and avoid activities that may create safety risks.

7. Safety & Event Behavior

  • All members must attend event safety briefings where required.
  • Unsafe conduct may result in immediate removal from an activity or event.
  • Members must comply with instructions given by event organizers, marshals, or safety officers.
  • Appropriate safety gear and hearing protection should be used where necessary.

8. Authenticity & Presentation

  • Members should make reasonable efforts to maintain historically appropriate uniforms, equipment, and conduct.
  • Modern items should be concealed where practical during public displays.
  • Authenticity standards may vary depending on event type and unit requirements.

9. Membership & Discipline

9.1 Membership Expectations

  • Membership is a privilege, not an entitlement.
  • Members are expected to contribute positively to the club environment.

9.2 Disciplinary Action

The club reserves the right to:

  • Issue verbal or written warnings
  • Suspend members from activities
  • Remove members from events
  • Terminate membership for serious misconduct or repeated rule breaches

Serious breaches involving safety, violence, theft, illegal activity, or extremist behaviour may result in immediate expulsion.

The club exists to preserve and present history safely, respectfully, and professionally. Members should always strive to create a welcoming environment that honors the historical subject matter while ensuring the safety and enjoyment of fellow members and the public alike.
